It's just a flag holder, but better than the cheap plastic ones
The patio had a flag holder from a previous owner. We used it but one day the flag pole came off in a strong wind and I realized it was cheap plastic. The knob holding the pole was rusted and wouldn't seat in the holder. I got this one and became aware that of the difference. The other one was a cheap plastic one and over the years the plastic had distorted. This one is well made. All metal and the knurled knob that holds the flag fits perfectly in the holder. It's only a flag pole holder, but get all metal. And, the pole fits in without an issue.

Quality brackets for the price
Excellent quality brackets for the price range. Items shipped right away. As the other reviewers commented the included screws and mounts are worthless for most outdoors side of home mountings that these are likely to be used for, however I did not purchase these for the screws and the quality of the mount itself makes up for the lack of quality screws. Also as noted the position of the top holes so close to the body can be a bit difficult to work with if using a wide body power tool to mount it. I found simply marking and pre-drilling the holes (also allowed me to fill them with sealant before mounting) worked fine. Also as apparently it wasn't obvious to everyone, the thumbscrew used to hold pole secure can be removed when mounting the bracket, in fact it should be as it makes mounting much easier :-)

High quality, lives up to its name
Quite a sturdy flag holder. I bought it separately as it looked stronger than others, especially those in some of the kits. I am glad I did buy 3 separate pieces, I ended up with a very sturdy flag mounting set even though shopping for it did take longer than a kit. My flag has been flying beautifully and tangle and wrap free for three breezy days in a row now. I have the white one, it is smooth and has obvious quality workman ship. I does hold a 1" pole quite nicely in either position, but has a tightening screw to hold one that is less in diameter.

This is a solid mount.
I adhered this mount to my garage with Gorilla Glue, then purchased thicker and 1 inch longer screws than what came with the mount, and then bolted the mount in. I then grabbed the mount with my hands and did 10 pull-ups. The mount holds my "Valley Forge Flag 2-Piece 6-Foot Oak-Colored Aluminum Spinning Flag Pole" by Valley Forge Flag which I purchased here on Amazon. I am confident that the whole building could come down and the mount would not give way. Recommended.

Very sturdy
We've gone through several plastic flag holders that kept breaking, but this aluminum bracket is very sturdy and we haven't had any problems the first few weeks... I'm sure it will be up there for many years to come. Update: This bracket has now been up for 2 years through multiple wind and thunderstorms and is still holding strong. We are buying a flag pole set for a family member and this is the only bracket I would think of buying.

Great sturdy flag holder.
We have had 6 flag holders in our windy area and all of them failed within a few months. I even made sure to pay extra for US made holders and the same old break in the wind issue. Then I bought this and it is so solid and stable and so far has survived in the strongest winds. Nicely made and yes, it is from China, but appears better cast than many others. We fly the flag 24/7 (lit at night of course) so a good sturdy holder is needed. Also, the mounting holes in this match up well with the plastic or nylon flag holders so you should not have to drill new holes.

Get rid of your plastic one and install this!
I purchased the 6 foot spinning pole and a beautiful 3x5 flag just before Memorial Day--but we arrived home one day to find the flag on the ground because the plastic version of this bracket had split. Ordered this one right away (but too late for Memorial Day unfortunately). Now with the new SOLID bracket, flag pole, and flag we've got a flag to be proud of. And no worry it's going to fall down again.

That did fine until we had some pretty serious winds
I purchased two of these flag pole brackets. Originally, my husband just screwed them into a Hardiplank board, with one of the screws into a solid board behind the Hardiplank. That did fine until we had some pretty serious winds. The screw that wasn't into the solid board pulled out, and left the flag hanging. The fix was easy by using a molly anchor, then screwing into that. The bracket was not the problem, it was the installation....there's your heads up!

Wonderful flag and banner holder
I love how unassuming and sturdy this bracket is, so it blends right into our home decor, while working beautifully to hold our flags and banners day after day, week after week, and month after month. In fact, this seems like something you can just buy once and never have to replace, which makes it one of my favorite recent home decor purchases. It's easy to install, and looks great when it's not holding a banner or flag. I love how this bracket accommodates two different banner or flag positions, either at an upward angle (for a flag) or horizontally straight out (for a banner). Since I already had a flag bracket, I've mostly used this bracket to support banners held up with (fairly heavy) wooden poles, and it's worked like a champ, even on blustery, windy days. This is a real winner!
